Jesse Cervantes was born in Scottsbluff, NE, one of 14 children to his parents, Julia Salazar and Pedro Cervantes.
He was an artist; he rarely went anywhere without a sketch pad. An avid reader, he believed in education and always trying to strive to better yourself. He had a passion for history and strong opinions on current world events. He had several careers throughout his life, among them a stint working as a representative of the Mexican American Commission in Lincoln NE, a real estate agent, and when times were tough, a veteran truck driver. He had great ambitions as a young man but knew the value of hard work and the responsibilities that drove some of the choices he made in his life.
In his later years he enjoyed slower times at home with his loving wife, Lori Cervantes, watching the Cornhuskers play, trips to the Keno parlor patiently waiting for that big win, and he took great joy in spending what time he could with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, 2 brothers, 3 sisters, 4 daughters, 2 sons, 4 stepsons, and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
Per his wishes, there is no service scheduled. His ashes will be returned to his wife and his resting place will be in their home. A celebration of life event may be scheduled in the future.
“A path without a heart is never enjoyable. You have to work hard even to take it. On the other hand, a path with heart is easy; it does not make you work at liking it. A man of knowledge lives by acting, not by thinking about acting.” ~ Carlos Castaneda
