JoAnne McCurley, born on March 14, 1951, in Albuquerque, NM, passed away on January 3, 2024, in Omaha, NE, following complications from heart surgery.
She graduated from Satellite High School in Florida, pursued some college education, and dedicated years to various professions, including teaching, pharmacy tech, and uniform rental roles.
A devout member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, JoAnne actively contributed to her community through volunteering with organizations like Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Special Olympics, and engaging in square and round dancing.
Preceded in death by parents Gafford and Christine McCurley and sibling Elizabeth, JoAnne is survived by her children John Speranzo, Laura Summerlin, Kathryn Frizzell, grandchildren Derek Summerlin, Tyler Summerlin, Zachary Lewis, Shyanna Lewis, Samantha Summerlin, Gabriel Summerlin, great-grandchildren Olivia and Mila Summerlin, and siblings Ronald McCurley, Linda Stafford, and Dorothy McCurley.
A celebration of her life will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Benson, Omaha, on February 17, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.
